How to Read the Bible
Core Classes are a series of structured online courses designed to help you grow in a deeper understanding of Scripture and the Christian faith. Each class focuses on essential areas of spiritual growth, including the foundations of biblical truth, the formation of Christlike character, and the mission of living out the gospel in the world. Through careful teaching and thoughtful discussion, Core Classes aim to equip believers with greater clarity, confidence, and faithfulness as they read the Bible, understand what they believe, and apply God’s Word in everyday life. Offered online, these classes make it easy for anyone to participate and grow, wherever they may be. Core Classes are open to all who desire to deepen their knowledge of Scripture and maturity in their walk with Christ.
Core Classes are offered online in focused teaching units that explore key areas of the Christian life and faith. Each unit typically runs for several weeks and meets on scheduled evenings through a live online session. Classes are organized into three main categories: Foundations, which focus on understanding Scripture and essential doctrine; Formation, which addresses spiritual growth and Christian character; and Mission, which explores how believers live out and communicate the gospel in the world. Participants are encouraged to attend regularly and engage thoughtfully with the material as each unit builds on the previous sessions.
Our next Core Class begins on the second Tuesday of March and will launch a new unit in the Foundations category titled “How to Read the Bible.” This class will explore how Scripture is structured, how context and literary genre influence interpretation, and how readers can approach the Bible with greater clarity and confidence. The goal of this unit is to equip participants to read and understand God’s Word more faithfully and apply it wisely in everyday life. All are welcome to participate.
Spiritual growth does not happen by accident. It requires time in God’s Word, thoughtful reflection, and a willingness to learn. Core Classes exist to help cultivate that kind of growth by providing a setting where believers can engage Scripture carefully and deepen their understanding of the Christian faith. As our understanding of God’s Word grows, so does our ability to live faithfully, discern truth, and encourage one another. Core Classes are one way our church seeks to invest in that growth, helping build a community that is rooted in Scripture, grounded in sound doctrine, and equipped to follow Christ with wisdom and conviction.
As part of our Core Classes on reading and studying the Bible, we invite you to complete a brief Bible Study Assessment. This questionnaire is designed to help us understand your experience, expectations, and challenges when engaging with Scripture. Your responses will help us shape the class to better serve everyone who participates. Please take a few minutes to download and complete the assessment before the first session.
